One chapter closes and another begins.
The Colony of Wellfleet has been sold and is now under new ownership.
As recent stewards of this storied cottage colony, we are grateful for the opportunity to help ensure the preservation of these fine examples of Bauhaus architecture—defined by functional simplicity and a timeless harmony with nature.
The cottages are expected to reopen in 2027 as a nonprofit retreat for writers and playwrights. We look forward to this new chapter and wish the new owners all the best. While this moment is bittersweet for us, we believe this next chapter will be a meaningful cultural addition to the community. We would love to hear from our friends and guests—please share your memories with us so we can help preserve The Colony’s legacy.
